10x10 Brunswick

I will be taking part in 10x10 Brunswick again this year.  I love 10x10 auctions they give me a reason to just paint something.  I recently completed two paintings but prior to that I haven't been doing a whole lot.  The winters here are long and boring and way too cold to feel creative.  I store it all up until spring when I start in on all the projects I have been thinking of.

Giraffe Painting

I just love giraffes they are just so adorable.  We saw this one at Disney's Animal Kingdom last month.  She came walking out of the brush and crossed the road right in front of our vehicle.  Painting this was quite a challenge -giraffes are so strangely proportioned.  I chose to do the background abstractly to keep attention on the animal.  Im not completely sure this one is finished, I may just go back and nit pick it a little.
My son was excited about this painting he just couldn't believe I painted a giraffe, he loves it.

Graduation Invitations

My daughter will be graduating High School in a couple of weeks.  I did not order her any "official invitations" to give out, we really don't have much family to send them to.  Since I didn't send out her senior pictures either I did up these invitations for immediate family.  Killing two birds with one stone -they are not only her photos -all that were sent in for the yearbook -but they also have the graduation ceremony information on them.
I'm thinking from now on when I do senior photos I will include these as an option.

New Painting of Cotton

The small painting of Cotton got me warmed up and since I had a pallet of colors for him I carried on with the subject.  A white cat is so difficult to paint, you can't just use white and grey that's boring.  I may have overdone it with the pink -my kids think so-but I like it.
I haven't decided if I'm going to call this done or continue working on it, there are a few spots that don't seem quite right to me, but then again every time i try to fix one thing I mess up something else so maybe it's done.

New Painting for Upcoming Paw in The Door Art Auction

As I was searching calls to artists I came across a call for work from the Paw in the Door animal shelter in Bath ME.  They will be holding an auction in June and are requesting cat related art to sell.  I requested a panel which I received yesterday.  I began yesterday afternoon on this painting of my little Cotton -totally white, long hair and blue eyes.  White cats are a challenge since you can't just use white and grey.  I'm proud to say it looks nothing like the photo I used to go by but does look like Cotton.  Really hate to let this one go.

CONSUMED

Caught the chance to photograph a house fire in Bridgewater on Saturday.  Might make a good addition to my After the Fire images.
